Sista stoppet på vårat äventyr - The big apple! För att spara både tid och pengar tog vi ett nattflyg från San Francisco. Märkligt nog kunde jag knappt sova något alls, jag som brukar kunna somna i dom flesta fordon. Så vi tog det ganska lugnt på söndagen. Det blev en sväng till Time Square, där vi tittade i affärer och på allt folk. Senare traskade vi bort till Central Park, gick runt, låg i gräset och tittade på molnen, och råkade gå förbi en softball-match så vi satte oss och såg på den ett tag innan det var dags att bege sig tillbaka till hotellet.
New York är en stor stad, med mer än 8 miljoner människor. Alltså nästan lika många som svenska befolkningen. För att hinna se så mycket som möjligt, och ta oss mellan ställena på roligaste sätt köpte vi biljetter till en hop on - hop off buss (City Sightseeing, $60 för 5 dagar inklusive båttur och inträde på Museum of the city of NY). Vi började med Downtown-turen. Vi åkte förbi Times Square och Madison Square Garden, vi hoppade av vid Empire State Building och tog lite kort, hoppade på igen, åkte vidare förbi Flatiron Building, Union Square, Greenwich Village, SoHo och Chinatown, hoppade av vid World Trade Center där vi tittade på de nya byggnaderna och Ground Zero. Vi gick igenom Wall street, ner mot hamnen och där vi hoppade på en båt som körde oss förbi Liberty Island och Frihetsgudinnan upp till Pier 78 och därifrån tog vi en buss till Times Square. På kvällen tog vi kvällsturen ner och genom Brooklyn. Hela Brooklyn-bron och alla skyskrapor lyste så fint i mörkret.
På onsdagen stod det regn på väderprognosen, så vi lånade paraply från hotellet, fick ponchos på bussen och planerade en heldag inne i affärer. Helt i onödan. Visst, det hade regnat på morgonen men resten av dagen var, visserligen molnig, men regnfri. Hur som helst så tog vi bussen till en outlet vid World Trade Center, sen vidare till Macy's, som är det näst största i världen, och lite andra affärer. Mycket lyckad shopping och även lite sightseeing på vägen mellan affärerna.
Dags för andra sidan av staden! Uptown tour och Bronx där bland annat Yankee Stadium ligger. På vägen tillbaka gick vi av vid Museum of the New York City där vi fick lära oss hur New York kom till, hur det sett ut genom åren och lite annat spännande. Sen gick vi längs Central Park mot vårat hotell, och vi fick se vår första kändis! Den arga cheerleader-tränaren ur Glee, som jag kollat upp heter Jane Lynch. Till kvällen hade vi köpt biljetter till Phantom of the Opera på Majestic Theatre. Och det var sååå bra! Som den musikalälskare jag är så njöt jag i fulla drag, och Gustav tyckte det var riktigt bra också. Så nu kan vi checka av att ha sett en musikal på Broadway.
Sista dagen med Hop on - Hop off bussen tog vi rundan ner till Brooklyn, dagstur denna gång. Efter turen blev det lite sista shopping. Vi gick in i Toys R Us-affären som har sitt egna pariserhjul inuti butiken och strosade runt på Times Square. Eftersom det var sista kvällen på semestern så lyxade vi till det med middag på Olive Garden. Supergott! Och vi blev så mätta att vi fick magknip.
